Just finished reading an article from 1up.com on how Kojima is restructuring his company and is developing games with the overseas market (U.S.) in mind.  Its been reported in other articles that he believe western development of games has surpassed Japan.  Kojima was been touring U.S.(and Canadian I guess) development studios.  Mainly developers that create FPS.  This concerns me.

Anyone who knows me know that’s I’m a Kojima fan, not just a Metal Gear Fan.  I thought Z.O.E. and Z.O.E. 2 where AWESOME.  I like Kojima’s style the way it is.  Not only do his games look good, but the game play is fun and the play style is unique.  Those are things most American developers are missing.  With the exception of a few companies (i.e.Valve, Ubisoft, Mythic) most American developers are just out to make a buck, so they produce garbage wrapped in eye candy (Epic…Unreal Tournament III…I hate you…).  If anything these companies should be trying to learn from Kojima and his development team.

I hope Kojima is just trying to learn more about the dynamics of FPS and not really about how to develope a FPS like a western developer…unless its Valve :D .
