Huge Batman fan here so whenever I see something that brings me more Batman I’ll go for it.  I knew about Gotham Knight before The Dark Knight came out, but never got the chance to really check it out.  I got it this week on Blu-ray through netflix.  I felt it was pretty awesome.  Its 6 short animated stories, each about 15-20 minutes, that tell stories that happened between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.  Some tell a little bit more about his past, but some are just good Batman stories.  You see appearances by Scarecrow, Killer Croc, and Deadshot.  Here are the titles of the 6 stories:

Have I Got A Story For You

This is one of my favorites.  Its 4 kids at a skate park and 3 of them are telling stories about Batman.  Each one very over exaggerated.  The 4th kid doesn’t have a story to tell, until Batman shows up there fighting an enemy and he actually ends up helping Batman.

Crossfire

I liked the animation in this one.  Its the story of 2 officers that work in Gordons special unit.  One likes Batman, the other doesn’t.  In the end Batman saves both their lives.

Field Test

This one tells a lot about Batmans character.  Lucious creates a device that reflects bullets from Batman.  Batman uses it in the field and one of the villians gets shot from one of the bullets deflected.  Batman then tells Lucious that he can’t use it because he doesn’t want to hurt others with it.  The animation reminds me of Big O.

In The Darkness Dwells

This one is about Killer Croc and Scarecrow.  Batman has to save a priest that has been captured by Killer Croc and faces the Scarecrow again.

Working Through the Pain

This tells some back story for Batman.  He is in the sewers chasing someone, but he is hurt.  While he makes his way through the sewers to get back to the surface its telling the story of how he trained to bypass pain.  This one shows more of Batman’s human side.

Deadshot

This one is my favorite of the bunch.  Its Batman vs Deadshot.  For those who don’t know Deadshot is a villian that has perfect aim.  He is hired to kill Batman in this one.  In the end him and Batman duke it out on top of a moving train, with Batman ending up the victor.

The special features were good too.  It comes with a documentary on the villans in the Batman universe.  There is another documentary on the creator of Batman and his life.  Very interesting stuff.  I know the Blu-ray version comes with 4 episodes of Batman The Animated Series, no sure about DVD.  I enjoyed it a lot and I will be looking to add it to my collection.  I just don’t know if I want to buy it on Blu-ray or DVD.
