I have to say, I wasn’t really looking forward to this game.  I figured I’d play it because it looked cool.  Wow!  What a surprise!  The game is actually pretty awesome.  The moment the game loads up, and where you would normally press start to get to the starting menu, the screen pans to a huge explosion.  Smoke clears and your character is in the middle of a crater pretty banged up.  While your running through the burning city you find that your body absorbs electricity.  After you get through the city, you go through what is truly the beginning cut scene that talks about what happened to you and the city fo r the first 13 days after the explosion.  In a nutshell, total anarchy.  The government quarantined the city, gangs have taken over the streets, and the police are pretty much nonexistent.

Not to far into the game you find out that you were unknowingly carrying the device that caused the explosion.  They display this on a big TV inside the city so EVERYONE knows…and pretty much hates you at this point.  People throw stuff at you, chase you, try to hurt you.  Even your girlfriend leaves you.  So at this point you have a choice.  You can either gain back the cities trust and be a hero, or you can do what you want and stomp on anyone that stands in your way.

Actually, you have many choices like this were you can pick the noble path, which is typically harder, or pick the evil path, which will usually hurt people.  Right now I am playing through the good path so I haven’t done much evil…at least not on purpose.  I’ve fried a few people by accident, but hey, they should have moved when they saw lightning shooting from my hands!

The game is like Assassin Creed meets X-Men.  Assassins Creed in the sense that you can climb anything, jump from high buildings, and traverse the roof tops.  X-Men in the fact that you shoot lighting and the AWESOME artwork that is displayed in the cut scenes.

You have one primary enemy that i have seen so far, the reapers.  They are a gang that controls the streets.  As you complete side missions you will wipe them out of those areas to make the city safe again.  I have seen 3 types of reapers.  The standard guys with guns and grenades.  Kamikaze reapers that run toward you with explosives.  And the last are called Conduits.  I’m looking for a bit more of an explanation on these guys because they use electricity to.   They can make big power waves come from the ground and they can teleport while your fighting them (very annoying).

The story so far has been intriguing and keeps me wanting to play and learn more about whats really happening.  In the last cut scene I saw a conduit came and spoke to me, then showed me the future…a bad one.  So when I get home from the gym tonight guess what I’ll be doing .

This game isn’t a reason to buy a PS3, but if you have one I would highly recommend checking this game out.  I’ll give my final thoughts on the game once I complete it.
