I was actually planning on seeing this movie while it was in theaters but I never made it.  I kept hearing good things about it so I checked it out via Netflix when it became available.  I was pleased with the movie.  Gave it 3 stars on Netflix.  I have to admit, it took me back a few years.

In a nutshell the movie is about a guy who likes a girl, but more than she likes him.  The girls name is Summer…hinch the name of the movie.  She pretty much makes it clear from the beginning that she isn’t looking for something serious, but he tries to turn it into something more.  The movie actually starts at day 240 (I think), which is shortly after she has broken up with him.  The rest of the movie pretty much bounces between days.  It goes from the beginning, then will skip ahead to a time where they are already dating, then go back to another day close to the beginning, then back to a day closer to them breaking up.  It was a very interesting way to present the movie.

There was also another part where he went to go meet her after they broke up and he had a certain expectation of what would happen.  They split the screen to show you the expectation view and the reality view at the same time.  Never really seen that done before, it was pretty cool.  The movie wasn’t really a love story, it was a story about progressing through life.  If you get a chance I would recommend checking it out.  And fellas, you don’t need a chick with you to validate watching this movie.
