As many of my friends know I listen to a WIDE variety of music. Actually, the only two forms of music I can tell you that I absolutely do not like are Country and Gospel music. My taste range from Hip Hop to Electronic to other forms of music that I don’t even know the genre. I constantly stumble upon great music and am always looking out for more.
I stumbled upon SHE from my friend ZeroXR. He described it as Daft Punk-esk, and being that I’m a HUGE Daft Punk fan I decided to check it out. I have to say I was not disappointed in the least. SHE is not a Daft Punk clone. While SHE has an electronic sound, I have to say it’s a very unique sound. So far I have listened to Coloris, Orion, Chiptek, Days, and Pioneer. Each has a unique sound to it while keeping with the overall sound of SHE.
So what exactly is SHE? SHE is a virtual band. What this means is that means is the members of the band are not real, but characters. In this case they are characters created by Lain Trzaska, the person who makes the music in reality. Why he decided to present his music this way, I don’t know. Perhaps to give it a little more depth? SHE does both electronic and chiptune music.
For those who don’t know what chiptune is, imagine playing MegaMan on your NES, that’s chiptune. But in SHE’s case it’s a more evolved form. Not all sounds are 8-bit, which leads me to believe that Lain is using filters to lower the quality of specific sounds that he want’s to sound chiptune. SHE’s style of chiptune reminds me of Drum n Bass, which is perhaps why I like it. I’m going to provide a few samples below; check them out if your interested. Here are a few links for SHE Music:
