HP released the video below this weekend to show off some of the features of the Slate.  I’ll explain them to you in case you don’t get it.

The first thing they really focus on in this short clip are the video functions.  They show the user recording a video, taking pictures, and also having a video conference on the device.  This is a major jab to the iPad since it has no camera.  Actually, as it stands the only way to get pictures on the iPad will be either download it off the internet or transfer the pictures via the camera connection kit they will be selling later this month.  Kind of a pain if you ask me.  Next you notice the icon based interface for easy use, but nothing really special about that.

After that they show a USB device being plugged into the Slate.  It appears to be a iPod.  You then will notice that they are using iTunes in the device.  There is also a SD slot built into the Slate so you can expand your memory to whatever you want.  The fact that the device runs Windows 7, has built in USB ports, and a slot for SD memory means that you can truly use this device as a tablet.  A replacement for a laptop or netbook.  The last thing they show is that you can connect the device via dock to a TV and display video there.  As long as it’s HD I’m all about that.  Now you can take a movie around with you as you move around and when your ready, just connect to the dock to watch on your TV.

I’m don’t think the Slate is a Tegra device but I’m still excited for it.  I will have to compare it against the Tegra devices that are coming out to see which one I will get.
